Where does the intelligence portal live?

The Hoozin Intelligence Portal is a browser application which stores some of its data in SharePoint and some in Microsoft SQL server.  It spreads the various components across separate computers (normally virtual machines) and can scale to thousands of users.

Microsoft Azure Government Cloud – Recommended

Microsoft has the most mature government solution for cloud computing. RPR Wyatt is an authorized Azure.gov partner.   Their cloud is CJIS compliant.

  • We can manage everything for you in our instance of Azure.gov.
  • You can host it in your Azure.gov account and give us “just enough” access to manage it for you.
  • You can do it all yourself with our guidance.

Amazon Web Services

Amazon is relatively new to the government market and their offerings are not quite as mature.  That said, they did recently win a HUGE contract with the CIA so it is safe to assume that their cloud can pass the requisite security audits.  We just haven’t done it.

  • We can secure the cloud environment and manage everything for you.
  • You can acquire the cloud infrastructure and give us access to it so we can maintain the system.
  • You can do it all on your own, with guidance from us.

Host it yourself

Some states have excellent internal IT resources which can be made available to the fusion center at competitive rates.

If you are lucky enough to have this option, it might make sense.  If so, we will work with your designees to ensure their success.



One thing to keep in mind is that Microsoft and AWS have incredible advantages of scale and have full-time experts who specialize in keeping your machines on the latest security patch, backed up, physically secure, etc.
